INTRODUCTION

This is a complete rebuild of Tom Gibson's original DC-7C AFX, the only thing left of it though is the forward windscreens, Everything else is completely redesigned. I like the DC-7 but wanted to get there a bit faster and be able to operate from shorter out of the way fields. It has maximum moving parts, with a full feathering props at idle. The model uses the maximum AF99 parts of 1200. This was based on the proposed DC-7D with T-34 turbines, updated to a CarVair style Cargo Conversion. New pilot side only panel with popup start and GPS panels, if you don't like it then switch back to the TEC-7T version. Wanted to try something different.

Caution!!!! - Remember that the pilots viewpoint is three times higher than in the normal TEC-7T, so be careful on landings or you'll hit the ground hard!

Known Problems: Nose Cone when open, looks good from left side but will dissapear when viewed from right side.

Modifications:
Fuselage modified for cargo hauling
Extended low drag wintips.
Swept increased area fin and rudder.
Low drag elevator tips.
Redesigned wing profile.
High lift blown flaps. (aircraft will float on landings if flaired to fast)
Higher strength main gear for repeated 750 fpm impacts.
Rolls Royce AE 2100 turbine engines rated at 4,152 eshp.
Single point fueling system
Powered flight control surfaces, eases control loads on column, and allows faster reaction for shorter field approach maneurvering.
Full reversing four blade props for shorter landing rolls.
Carbon Fiber Brake System

Flying the TECargo-7T

Open start panel, Use 1,4,3,2 order
Props full feather
Set fuel switch on to proper engine
Engage starter switch
count to 5 then prop full forward
Wait for N1 to register then prop to ground idle.
Check Amps and Hydraulic pressure gauges
When all engines are started, set radios, GPS, lighting systems, AC on if needed.

Taxiing:

Props to flight idle
Set N1 38 to 40 percent (this will give a good ground speed with enough power to get rolling after a stop without resetting them)
Release Brakes
Clear area around aircraft
Taxi out

Take off:

Short fields: Main tanks full, Aux tanks empty, 10,000 lbs of cargo, 1850 miles max range

Flap full
Trim up 10 degrees
Props full forward
Hold brakes till 105 percent N1, then release brakes
Ease Control Wheel back, watch for tail drag, as the nose will rise rapidly.
Rotate at 105 - 110 KIAS
Liftoff at 130 knots (approx 3,500 ft of runway)
Set climb at 2,000 fpm
Gear up at 140 KIAS
Bring flaps up 3 notches
Trim down 5
Retract flaps at 160 knots
Trim set to 0
Lower nose to get 190 KIAS
Set climb at 1,500 fpm to 10,000 ft
Set climb speed at 190 KIAS above 10,000 ft
Set climb at 1,000 fpm above 15,000 ft
Set cruise speed at 250 KIAS at 25,000 ft and props to cruise

Normal Field: Full Fuel, 10,000 lbs of cargo, 30 passengers, plus baggage, 5,040 miles max range

Flaps down 4 notches
Trim up 5 degrees
Props full
Hold brakes till 90% N1, then release brakes
Rotate at 115 knots, keep nose low
Liftoff at 130 to 140 KIAS (approx 6,500 ft of runway)
Gear up as soon as positive climb is established
Flaps up 2 notches
increase speed tp 190 KIAS
Flaps retracted at 160 KIAS
Set climb to 1,500 fpm to 10,000 ft
Set climb speed to 190 KIAS, set props to cruise
Set climb at 1,000 fpm above 10,000 ft (this is a fuel saving measure to get max range, it will climb faster)
At 25,000 ft increase speed in 20 KIAS stages to 250 KIAS

Landing:

Start landing early to get slowed down.
Let Down:
250 KIAS @ 1,000 fpm (1,500 fpm max)

Approach:
Slow to 200 KIAS
Flaps down 2 notches (MAX at this speed)
Slow to 180 KIAS
flaps down 2 more notches
15 miles:
Slow to 160 KIAS
flaps 5 notches
10 miles:
gear down
slow to 140 KIAS
flaps 6 notches
5 miles:
full flaps
slow to 120 KIAS
Touchdown:
Rotate gently and touchdown at 100 - 110 KIAS

Short Field:
5 miles:
Full Flaps slow to 115 kts
Touchdown: (these are close to full stall landings so be gntle on the controls and maintain power)
Aircraft level touchdown at 98 KIAS @ 500 fpm max (otherwise it will bounce back up)
Full reverse upon touchdown
If 7,500 ft total runway available, takeoff can be made without turning around.

I would like to thank Benjamin Chen for the Gauge Browser program used to repaint the gauges (available at www.flightsim.com), and Michel Proski for the Panmake program which is how I make these panels. Finally, I would like to thank Microsoft for the wonderful FS98 plane/panel system, and their support of third-party add-on developers - great job!

Thanks also to Dai Griffth, HGHB and CARP for the wonderful gauges.
